You Say You Want A Revolution
I’ve already looked once at the very significant scene in the London’s computer room between Blake, Avon and Jenna. On that occasion I was comparing the original Nation script to the Boucher rewrite. But the scene is interesting for another reason, which is present in both versions.
Blake, Avon and Jenna are all three outlaws, and big deals of outlaws (nobody else aboard the London seems to be in for anything as grand, though obviously Blake’s real ‘crimes’ have been covered up by fabricated ones). The positioning of the three in this scene sets a template.
Obviously because this series is made to be shown in 1978, it’s going to be relayed in terms that people in 1978 will readily understand. (With that observation I’ve just saved you three years and thousands and thousands of pounds on a university media course.)
